Cost of capital survey shows investments in solar PV can be less risky than gas power in emerging and developing economies, though values remain high
2022 values represent the year of the final investment decision. Values are expressed in nominal, post-tax and local currency. WACC = Weighted average cost of capital. WACCs for solar PV projects represent responses for a 100MW project; for gas power a 250MW project, for a utility-scale batteries a 40 MW project and for offshore a 250MW projects. Values are the midpoint of the minimum and maximum values of the median range, e.g., Brazil’s solar WACC value is shown as 10.75%, the midpoint between the median range of 10.5% and 11.0%.
