Data source: Calculated using Natural Resource Canada’s 2021 Fuel Consumption Guide

Description: This graph compares the average fuel efficiencies of conventional vehicles, regular hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and electric vehicles for sale in Canada in 2021. For distances of 25 km, the fuel efficiencies of plug-in hybrids are slightly worse than those of electric vehicles. As the distance driven increases, the fuel efficiencies of plug-in hybrids get closer to, and sometimes exceed, the fuel efficiencies of regular hybrids. The fuel efficiencies of conventional vehicles, regular hybrids, and electric vehicles, unlike plug-in hybrids, do not change when trip length is changed.
