AER names Gordon Lambert interim president, CEO

Gordon Lambert played role in creation of COSIA

On Friday, the Board of Directors of the Alberta Energy Regulator announced that Gordon Lambert will take over as interim president and CEO of the AER while the board conducts a search for a permanent replacement for Jim Ellis who announced his retirement last month.

Ellis’ retirement as president and CEO is effective Jan. 31, 2019, however, he used accumulated leave time to make his last official day in the office as Nov. 30.  Lambert’s appointment takes effect on Dec. 1, 2018.

According to the AER, Gordon Lambert “has been engaged at the intersection of the energy business and sustainability for the past 38 years”.

Lambert has been a leader in the development of environmentally sustainable practices in the oil sands, played a central role in the creation of Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (COSIA), has served as chair of the Alberta Climate Technology and Innovation Task Force, and on the AER Board of Directors.
