Canada’s Treason Problem – With Political Scientist Stewart Prest

October 6, 2026 |

Political scientist Stewart Prest says Canada needs to draw a bright line between legitimate separatist politics and foreign involvement in efforts to break up the country.

In this episode, Prest explains why the 1967 de Gaulle-Pearson confrontation still matters, why legal treason is not the same as political betrayal, and why Prime Minister Mark Carney should respond directly to U.S. interference.

He also argues that Premier Danielle Smith cannot remain neutral while the UCP straddles federalist and separatist factions, and says Canadians who support national unity need to organize, speak out and demand scrutiny of foreign involvement in separatist campaigns.
