White Rock-based Solar Alliance Energy Inc. and its partner Whayne Supply announced on Monday that the two had completed the installation of two solar projects in Kentucky and one project in West Virginia.

The two companies partnered on the three projects located in Louisville, Kentucky, Hazard, Kentucky and West Virginia.

A 34.5 kilowatt solar array was installed on the roof of the Archdiocese of Louisville’s pastoral center.

“We want to be good citizens. We want to be able to address environmental challenges that all of us are aware of, in a way that we are not simply part of the problem, but actually become part of the solution,” said Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz.

Kurtz added “We know that we can be an example and a witness to other people. So any way that if they, businesses, can say if the archdioceses can do it, maybe we can do it”.

Solar Alliance and Whayne Supply also installed a 35.25 kilowatt solar array on the roof of the Hillside Theatre in Hazard, Kentucky as well as a 32 kW solar array in West Virginia.

“Solar Alliance has been working closely with Whayne Supply over the last year and we are proud to continue working with them as a preferred solar partner,” said Solar Alliance Commercial VP Harvey Abouelata.

Whayne Supply is a Caterpillar dealer that serves Kentucky, West Virginia, South Eastern Ohio and Southern Indiana.  The company has been in the energy business in Kentucky for decades, offering a full line of diversified energy solutions.

Brad Zingre, Whayne Supply power systems manager, said “Supply of solar equipment from Caterpillar Inc. is an integral component of renewable, environmentally conscious, power generation systems enabling customers to maximize efficiency”.

Solar Alliance is licensed to operate in California, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and Kentucky.  Since the company was founded in 2003, it has developed wind and solar projects that provide enough energy to power 150,000 homes.
