Electra Meccanica maker will provide 7-Eleven with EVs to better serve its customers
Electra Meccanica Vehicles, a Vancouver-based designer and manufacturer of electric vehicles, announced on Wednesday that it is joining forces with 7-Eleven Canada to take its all-electric, single passenger SOLO vehicles to the streets of Vancouver, BC.
The three-wheel electric vehicles will be used to promote 7-Eleven’s delivery service, which 7-Eleven says will save its customers’ time and help the environment.
Electra Meccanica says the collaboration has the potential to expand in the future.
“7-Eleven has more than 600 stores in Canada and more than 66,000 stores in 17 countries. The brand is widely recognized as an innovative leader in convenience retailing and as the convenient solution for people on the go. Coincidently, so is the SOLO,” said Jerry Kroll, CEO of Electra Meccanica.
Kroll added “Being associated with a brand that is so embedded in today’s culture and synonymous with quality, ease and enjoyment– all in the name of serving its customers — is a perfect way to demonstrate what we do well.”
Doug Rosencrans, Vice President and General Manager of 7-Eleven Canada said “Not only do these vehicles put our brand on the road in a fun, attention-getting package, they allow us to explore alternate transportation options to reduce our carbon footprint, minimize environmental impacts, and gain cost efficiencies that we can share with our customers”.
Electra Meccanica builds the all-electric SOLO, which is a single passenger commuter vehicle and it is also developing the Tofino, a two-seater electric roadster sports car.
The company says both vehicles are built to offer its customers the ultimate driving experience and makes commuting more efficient, cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
Intermeccanica, a subsidiary of Electra Meccanica, has been building high-end specialty cars for 59 years. The Electra Meccanica family says its goal is to deliver next generation affordable electric vehicles to the masses.
