US oil production up 215,000 b/d in March
Data from the United States Energy Information Administration shows that in March, US oil production rose by 215,000 barrels per day (b/d) to a record high of 10.47 million b/d.
According to the agency, Texas production was up by 4 per cent to almost 4.2 million b/d, a record high based on data that goes back to 2005.
In North Dakota, crude production was steady at 1.2 million b/d and output from the US Gulf of Mexico dropped 1.1 per cent to 1.7 million b/d.
The EIA corrected its data for February by revising it down by 5,000 b/d to 10.26 million b/d.
US natural gas production in the contiguous states hit a record high of 88.8 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) in March. The previous record in February was 87.7 bcfd.
Texas natural gas production rose by 1.3 per cent in March to 22.7 bcfd, the highest since April 2016.
Pennsylvania production dipped in March, dropping 0.6 per cent to 16.4 bcfd. Data from March 2017 showed natural gas production in the Keystone state was 14.8 bcfd.
